I have worked for over 30 years in London advertising agencies and later in Manchester. Throughout my time in advertising I have worked on many varied client accounts, building brands, and making them profitable, relevant and famous.

Having spent many years as a copywriter in agencies, including CDP, Y&R, TBWA,  & GREY where I was creative group head and board director, I later became a creative director and board director at JWT in London where I was one of 3 founding partners of Label@JWT.

Label was the first specialist advertising fashion and beauty advertising agency. Label launched Glamour magazine for Conde Nast, returned Rimmel back onto the streets of London for Coty, and teamed De Beer with the LVMH group to become not only a diamond supplier, but also a leading jewellery brand with a prominent shop on Bond St. These were just a few amongst many other fashion and beauty clients. As a freelancer I have worked with Amanda Lacy on her packaging copy.

I was creative director at TBWA in Manchester on Ghd, and more recently I was Senior Creative Director and Joint Partner at Cheetham Bell in Manchester, part of the WPP group.

In Jan 2022  I left Cheetham Bell to became joint CD and founding partner at Fashion Roundabout, an online selling platform for all things circular fashion.

I am passionate about mentoring and giving back and have been the trustee for Fashion and Wardrobe at Smart Works in Manchester for over 2 and a half years. I am also currently helping with marketing and mentoring for a new Atelier in Manchester.

Nelson grew up in France and Portugal, and in 2002 moved to the UK to study at Leeds Metropolitan University.  It was during his years as a student that he first discovered a passion for hosting and promoting events.

After graduating in 2005, he moved to London and briefly ran his own company; Laurais Events.  A position at Cancer Research UK as Area Events Manager followed, and Nelson was soon promoted to Senior Events Manager.  During this time, Nelson relocated to Manchester and as part of a national role, played a key role to raise more than £3.5 million through the Race for Life and Shine events series.

In 2014 Nelson left Cancer Research UK to join CityCo and the Manchester Business Improvement District (BID), where he was Head of Events & Sponsorship until 2022 where he was responsible for a all year city wide events programme

Since joining CityCo, Nelson delivered a programme of successful, high profile events designed to drive footfall and promote Manchester as a vibrant international destination. Events such as Chinese New Year, Halloween in the City and Manchester Flower to name a few. These events have attracted millions of visitors to Manchester as well as national and international press aimed at profiling Manchester.

Nelson is also a board trustee and advisor for Manchester Jazz Festival and Beyond the Music.

He is now an events consultant and has taken on an executive role in Manchester based slow fashion brand Beaumont Organic.
